- We kick off at 9:30 on Saturday July 26th at http://www.thewildfig.co.zthe Wild Fig and will continue until around 5pm (or longer if you’d like to linger in the bar). You are welcome to wander in and out as you wish – drinks will be served all day so if you’d rather network furiously over coffee than sit in a session, there should be a comfortable space to do it in.
- The lunch menu offers a choice of five dishes:
- Pecorino Crusted Chicken Breast:Served on herb mash with caper butter
- Stuffed Calamari:Filled with watercress, onion & feta, served with dill mayonnaise
- Pasta Primavera: Freshly made tagliatelle pasta tossed with stir fried Mediterranean vegetables
- Roasted Butternut & Toasted Sunflower Seed Salad: With baby spinach, feta & seasonal herbs
- Warm Beef Salad: Marinated beef fillet strips, sauteed and served on salad greens with cocktail tomatoes, onions, capsicum peppers and avocado, drizzled with a mustard vinaigrette.
- Because there's been such demand for the event, to secure your place, we are asking you to pay R200 in advance. This will cover your lunch as well as tea, coffee and biscuits during the day. The conference itself is free. Alternatively you can pay R250 at the door on the 26th - but you may not be guaranteed a space at the event if you leave it until then. Please make payment to:
Standard Bank, Rondebosch branch, Account no. 07-558-155-8
- Please remember to put your full name on your deposit and/or to email a payment confirmation to pam@pamsykes.com. Once we receive your payment we will put an asterisk next to your name and move it up the list on the wiki, showing that your space is confirmed. The payment is non-refundable but you are welcome to 'sell' your space to someone else if you can't make it (maybe someone on the waiting list) - just let us know who you've transferred it to. Currently it's first come, first served so if your name is still on the waiting list, seize your chance!
- If you can’t make it on the 26th, please remember to remove your name from the list on the wiki as soon as possible so that people on the waiting list can get in.
- We’d love people to bring their laptops on the day if they want to liveblog the event, take notes, show people stuff and so on. Just remember to bring your own extension cable and adapter plugs.
- We're also looking for people who'd be interested in writing about some of the sessions. There are quite a few people who can't make the event but would like to pick up on some of the hints, tips and best practices that come out of the day. We'll publish all these articles on the Flying Solo network site as well as on Freelancentral, giving you some nice coverage. jo@freelancentral.co.za" href="/blocked::mailto:jo@freelancentral.co.za">Drop Jo a line if you're interested in doing this.
- Sessions will start with brief panel discussions before we throw things open to questions, comments and general discussion. We’ll facilitate to make things as non-scary as possible, but please come prepared with thoughts about what has (and hasn’t) worked for you; what you’d like to share; and what you’d like to learn. The event is all about sharing so please contribute to the discussion - the more you put in, the more you'll get out of it.
- Don't forget to bring business cards!
See you on Saturday 26th!
Regards,
Pam and Jo
