Were you at Flying Solo CT on 26 July? We'd love to get your feedback:
- What did you like?
- What could we do better next time?
- How would you describe the event to people who weren't there?
- Any other suggestions or comments?
Thank you all for coming along and making it such an awesome day! :-)
- I liked the Networking
- The sessions were very informative. I needed the info on TAX but didn't want to listen to it as it reminded me of where my skills are lacking :)
- Need more marketing info
- Rafiq and Jamaal were a gold mine of information. This opened my mind a lot.
We need to know the other attendees better. You cant network if you don't know who to seek out.
Perhaps next time a huge board where people can write their names and field of expertise and contact details.
I really enjoyed the day, don't think it needs much improving....went really well, and many aspects covered. Speakers were excellent and questions were freely possible and flowed well.
I also like the idea of having a better idea of who is there and what they do...if people submit a picture plus description of what they do so that people can check out the board...and approach those of interest.
Adrian Galley here ... I enjoyed the day very much. I'm not sure how I have managed to survive as a soloist for over 20 years without some of the stuff to which I had my eyes opened. (By the way, I have spare apostrophes if anyone has a job for them).
The suggestion of getting to know who's who in the zoo is a good one ... but what about posting the information on the wiki ahead of the event - at confirmation of attendance for instance?
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who shared so much of themselves.
NETWORKING AND CONTACT -
walterpike@gmail.com says very best way to sort out the networking and ongoing contact issue is to register on http://flyingsolosa.ning.com (see the orange panel on the right of your screen) It is a full social networking site - but focussed on the needs of freelancers only.
Everyone has a profile, everyone has a picture (maybe everyone soon) and you can contact anyone by sending a message. Glad you enjoyed the day and thanks very much for the super stars who pulled it all together.

My latest discovery was the astounding opportunities that shared collaborative networking offers, thanks to Pam Sykes, my friend Jacky Ashworth and the FlyingSolo unconference. Pam, your energy and initiative to get this all happening is greatly appreciated! The power is within all of us to shine.

Adrian Galley here ... I believe I may have entered my original comment in the wrong place ... so here goes again: I enjoyed the day very much. I have also been around as a 'solo flyer' for more than 20 years and have learned mostly by trial and error. (Probably made all the 'errors' possible). Really an eye opener to know that there are so many other people out there who have had or are still experiencing the same problems. I learned so much from listening to the ideas and suggestions from others. Certainly feeling very motivated.
